Terms of Use
1. About these terms
These terms apply when you use the Aurora Radar website and web app (the "Service"), provided by Creatively Apps Limited, registered in England and Wales (company number 17537980), 80 Cramptons Road, Sevenoaks TN14 5DY ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy and Photo & Community Guidelines also apply.
2. What the Service does
Aurora Radar estimates the chance of seeing the aurora at places you choose, using public space-weather and weather data, and can send you alerts. It's currently free. If we introduce paid features, we'll show prices and terms clearly before you pay, and nothing you already use for free will be charged without warning.
3. Forecasts are estimates
- Space weather and weather change quickly and can't be predicted with certainty. Verdicts, percentages, "clear sky nearby" suggestions and drive times are estimates.
- Alerts depend on third-party data, your device, your browser's push service and your network. They may be late, missed or wrong. Don't rely on the Service for anything where a missed or false alert could cause harm or loss.
- Drive times are rough straight-line estimates, not route planning. Suggested spots are points on a map, not recommended or safe places. They may be private land, unsafe or inaccessible.
4. Stay safe
- Never use the Service while driving. Stop somewhere safe and legal first.
- Check road and weather conditions, dress for the cold, tell someone where you're going and carry a charged phone.
- Respect private land, parking rules, local laws and wildlife. Don't trespass to get a better view.
- You are responsible for your own decisions and safety when you go out.
5. Your use of the Service
You must be 13 or older to share sightings. You agree not to misuse the Service, including by:
- interfering with it, overloading it, or accessing it by automated means except as we allow;
- trying to get around verification, rate limits or security;
- uploading content that breaks the Photo & Community Guidelines or the law.
6. Photos you share
- You keep ownership of your photos.
- By sharing a photo, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, resize and publish it in the Service, and to show it on our website and social channels to promote the Service, while it remains published. The licence ends when the photo is removed, except for copies already shared publicly or kept in backups for a limited time.
- You confirm the photo is your own, taken by you, real (not AI-generated or composited), and that sharing it doesn't break anyone's rights. If identifiable people appear in it, you have their permission.
- We may reject, hold for review, or remove any photo at our discretion, especially where verification fails.
- To ask for a photo to be removed, including one that shows you or your property, email support@creativelyapps.com.
7. Third-party data
The Service uses data from the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center, Open-Meteo.com (CC BY 4.0), MET Norway (CC BY 4.0) and AuroraWatch UK (Lancaster University), with map data from Natural Earth. These organisations don't endorse Aurora Radar and aren't responsible for it. We can't guarantee their data will always be available or accurate.
8. Our content
The Service's design, code, text and brand belong to us or our licensors. You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes. Please don't copy or resell it.
9. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or stop any part of the Service, for example for maintenance or if a data source becomes unavailable. We'll try to give notice of significant changes. We may update these terms, and we'll show the date above. If you keep using the Service after a change, the new terms apply.
10. Our responsibility to you
- We provide the Service with reasonable care and skill. Otherwise it's provided "as is", without warranties that it will be accurate, uninterrupted or error-free.
- We aren't responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, for business losses, or for costs you incur relying on a forecast or alert, such as travel, accommodation or tour bookings.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or anything else that can't be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using the Service at any time and use "Delete my data" in the app. We may suspend or block access if you break these terms.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your local courts.
